Australia blames 'very tired' sailor for Barrier Reef crash

Australian officials Thursday said a "very tired" sailor's simple navigation errors caused a cargo ship to run aground and badly damage the Great Barrier Reef, as two crew faced court over the crash. Russia to launch 7 new navigation satellites in 2010: Putin
Moscow (AFP) April 6, 2010
Russia is to launch seven new satellites this year for Moscow's GLONASS navigation system, Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin said Tuesday. "By the end of the year, we plan on launching seven new satellites" which will bring the number operational to 27 or 28, Putin was quoted by Russian news agencies as saying. Pocket GPS Used To To Make Emergency Passenger Jet Landing

Investigators have said the crew of the Tu-204 plane that made a belly landing in the woods on its approach to a Moscow airport earlier this week used a pocket GPS instead of the primary air navigation system, a leading Russian business daily said on Thursday.
