Ukraine needs 10 more Patriot air defence systems: Zelensky
by AFP Staff Writers
Kyiv, Ukraine (AFP) April 11, 2025

President Volodymyr Zelensky said Friday that Ukraine needs more air defence systems to protect civilians, speaking from the site of a recent Russian missile attack that killed several children.

"You know that Ukraine has a shortage of air defence systems. You know that Patriot systems can effectively protect against ballistic threats. I ask you to focus first of all on air defence for Ukraine. We truly need it. Ten Patriot systems -- the free world has them," Zelensky said in a video address from Kryvyi Rig, his home city, where a Russian strike last week killed 19 people, including nine children.
