The United States on Thursday successfully launched Atlas V rocket with NROL-61 spy satellite from the Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida, United Launch Alliance (ULA) said.

According to the translation aired by the ULA, the rocket was launched at 8:37 local time (12:37 GMT).

The satellite is put into orbit on behalf of the US National Reconnaissance Office (NRO).

ULA is a joint venture between Lockheed Martin and Boeing, formed in 2006 to provide spacecraft launch services to the US government.
