The United Arab Emirates has ordered data link hardware and software components from Tactical Communications Group for its armed forces.

The Massachusetts-headquartered company said the contract from the UAE includes engineering and operational tactical data link services, and system maintenance, as well as operational support for Link 16 and Link 11 A/B and a comprehensive and intuitive built-in training and test capability for the links.

"We are pleased to begin our service for the UAE armed forces and we are looking forward to supporting our Emirati allies as they employ their TDL-equipped capabilities and platforms," said Michael Hiney, TCG's president and chief executive officer. "TCG is known world-wide for our TDL expertise and we will strive to be a valuable resource for the Emirates."

The company said it will provide the UAE with its Ground Tactical Data Link System, which supports the operational and training needs of users who integrate Link 16 and other tactical data links to support command-and-control and non-C2 activities.

The system features a sophisticated tactical display and MIL-STD-compliant message generator and an intuitive simulation capability.

No details were provided as to the value of the contract or its performance period.
