Two-Day Solar Fiesta Shows Its Easy Being Green
Albuquerque NM (SPX) Aug 21, 2008 "It's Easy Being Green" is the theme of the 2008 Solar Fiesta, New Mexico's premier educational fair for energy conservation, renewable energy, and sustainable living. The event, presented by the New Mexico Solar Energy Association (NMSEA), takes place September 20-21 at Albuquerque's Highland High School. It offers a wide array of classes for adults, activities for children, and exhibits of products and services to save money on energy, generate renewable energy, and conserve natural resources. "Thousands of people attended the Solar Fiesta last year. With growing concerns over energy prices, we hope more will come and learn to maximize energy dollars by reducing use, increasing efficiency, and investing in renewables," said Solar Fiesta Manager Mary McArthur. Both days begin with free workshops at 9:30 a.m. offering easy, inexpensive ways to save on home energy costs. The "Energy 101" theme will continue with additional low-cost workshops covering: + conducting home energy audits and creating energy reduction plans + basics of solar thermal and solar electric systems, and + federal and state incentives Other workshops cover green building, water conservation, alternative fuels, and more. A professional home energy audit will be raffled at the Fiesta at $5 per ticket or three for $10. For kids, there will be solar car races, scavenger hunts, local science project exhibits, and solar-oven-baked cookies. Technical workshops are provided for energy and related business professionals. The Fiesta's exhibits showcase the latest renewable energy, energy conservation and green building products, and allow attendees to find qualified installers and ask questions of related professionals. Admission to the exhibit grounds is $5 for adults, $4 for seniors, $3 for students with ID, and free for NMSEA members, children under 12 and teachers. Workshop costs are $10 for a single workshop, $30 for an all-day pass, and $50 for a weekend pass, with discounts for NMSEA members. First Solar To Expand Manufacturing Facilities In Ohio
Tempe AZ (SPX) Aug 21, 2008First Solar has announced that it plans to expand its manufacturing operations and development facilities at its Perrysburg, Ohio facility. The investment will add approximately 500,000 square feet of manufacturing, research and development, and office space, and will add at least 134 new jobs to the Company's current workforce of 700 at its Perrysburg facility. |
