Tropical storm Nana forms in Atlantic Ocean
Miami (AFP) Oct 12, 2008 A new tropical storm formed Sunday in the eastern Atlantic Ocean, the Miami-based National Hurricane Center said. Tropical storm Nana was located about 1485 kilometers (925 miles) west of the Cape Verde Islands at 2100 GMT, the NHC said. With maximum sustained winds of 65 kilometers (40 miles) per hour, Nana was moving west-northwest at 11 kilometers (seven miles) per hour and was expected to weaken over the next 24 hours to become a tropical depression. La Paz, Mexico (AFP) Oct 12, 2008Hurricane Norbert, which ravaged Mexico's Pacific coast before being downgraded to a tropical depression, has claimed three lives in the northwest state of Sonora, civil defense officials said Sunday. |
