Tropical Storm Hector churns far off Mexico
by Staff Writers
Miami (AFP) Aug 13, 2012

Tropical Storm Hector weakened in the eastern Pacific far off the coast of Mexico Monday, and posed no threat to land as it slowly churned westward away from the mainland, US forecasters said.

At 0900 GMT, the storm was 345 miles (555 kilometers) south-west of the southern tip of Baja California, with maximum sustained winds of 40 miles (65 kilometers) per hour, the National Hurricane Center said.

The center said the storm was "disorganized" and had weakened, with little change in strength expected over the next two days.
