Swiss citizen dies in 50-car Slovenian highway crash

A Swiss national died and 30 people were injured, two of them seriously, in a highway pile-up Sunday after heavy snow in central Slovenia, police said.

The accident occurred Sunday afternoon when over 50 vehicles, including three lorries and a bus, crashed amid poor visibility and strong winds on the A1 Ljubljana-Koper highway, some 40 kilometres (24 miles) south of the Slovenian capital.

"A 25-year-old Swiss citizen died," Koper police spokeswoman Anita Leskovec told AFP without giving his name.

Due to the accident, the A1 highway connecting Ljubljana with the coast remained closed over eight hours/ach
