Solis Partners announced that it has been awarded a turnkey contract by P and R Fasteners to install a rooftop solar power generation system on their corporate headquarters located in the Somerset section of Franklin Township, N.J.

P and R Fasteners, a contract manufacturer of specialty metal products such as weld fasteners, spacer/tubing and specialty nuts, bolts and screws for variety of industries; will install a 254.8 kW rooftop PV system. The system will be deployed on their 100,000 square-foot manufacturing facility and offset approximately 99 percent of the building's annual electrical load.

"We recognize the growing awareness and demand for environmentally proactive practices from our customers, partners and employees and believe this project is representative of P and R's commitment to meeting them," said Douglas Joyce, corporate controller at P and R Fasteners.

"After a comprehensive assessment, we determined a solar PV project would be the best way to further our sustainability objectives."

Designed, engineered and constructed by Solis Partners, the solar array will consist of Solyndra PV panels that are designed to optimize solar electricity production on commercial rooftops. The system will consist of 1,400 panels that will generate approximately 295,000 kilowatt hours of electricity and eliminate more than 400,000 pounds of CO2 emissions annually.

"We are delighted to be working with P and R Fasteners," said Jamie Hahn, managing director of Solis Partners, which is based in Manasquan, N.J.

"It's enormously rewarding to be able to help a company meet its solar objectives. On-site distributed solar energy systems can positively affect corporations and their employees."

"The panels are being deployed in conjunction with a white "cool" roof system. The reflective roof will not only enhance the efficiency of the building envelope from an energy savings perspective but will also increase the amount of solar production harvest," said Hahn.

The solar facility is expected to be completed in March of this year.
