Sikorksy gets $158 million Black Hawk contract modification

Sikorsky to produce 24 Black Hawk helicopters for Taiwan
Washington (UPI) Sep 1, 2016 - Sikorsky Aircraft Corp. has received a $135 million U.S. Army contract modification covering a foreign military sale of UH-60M Black Hawk helicopters to Taiwan.

The Lockheed Martin subsidiary is to produce 24 of the uniquely configured aircraft for the Taiwanese government.

Work will be performed in Connecticut, with an estimated completion date is October 2018.

Army Contracting Command is the contracting activity.

The UH-60M is an advanced version of the Black Hawk that serves in the most extreme conditions worldwide.

Sikorsky Aircraft Corporation has been awarded a $158 million U.S. Army contract modification for Black Hawk helicopters.

The modification exercises an option for 14 UH-60 helicopters produced by the Lockheed Martin subsidiary.

Work will be performed in Connecticut and has an estimated completion date of June 2017.

The Army Contracting Command is the contracting activity.

The Black Hawk is used for a variety of Army missions, including air assault, air cavalry and aeromedical evacuation.

It can carry 11 combat-loaded air assault troops and is capable of moving a 105mm howitzer and 30 rounds of ammunition.

GenDyn gets $39 million contract modification for foreign military bombs
Washington (UPI) Aug 31, 2016 - General Dynamics - Ordnance and Tactical Systems has been awarded a $39 million modification to a foreign military sales contract for various bomb bodies.

The contract falls under the U.S. Army and involves sales to Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, France and Iraq.

The modification calls for 162 MK82-1 bomb bodies, 7,245 MK82-6 bomb bodies and 9,664 MK84-10 bomb bodies.

Work will be performed in Texas with an estimated completion date of December 2017.

Northrop Grumman gets $41 million for infrared countermeasures
Washington (UPI) Aug 31, 2016 - Northrop Grumman Systems has received a $41 million U.S. Air Force contract modification for the Large Aircraft Infrared Counter Measures, or LAIRCM, Line Replaceable Unit acquisition.

Work will be performed in Illinois and has an expected completion date of August 2018.

The contract involves a 1.9 percent foreign military sale to Australia and Canada.

The Air Force Life Cycle Management Center is the contracting activity.

The LAIRCM automatically detects a missile launch, determines if it is a threat and activates a high-intensity, laser-based countermeasure system to track and defeat the missile.

Northrop Grumman's assorted infrared countermeasure systems are installed or scheduled for installation on more than 1,000 military aircraft worldwide.
