Rheinmetall Group has received a contract to modernize tank gunnery and driving training simulators for the Polish armed forces.

The contract award comes as the company is already upgrading Poland's fleet of Leapard 2 main battle tanks. Under the new agreement, Rheinmetall will update the simulators with its TacSi technology and improved game engine-based image generator.

Work on the contract will be performed by a team comprised of Rheinmetall Polska, Rheinmetall Landsysteme, the original manufacturer of the equipment, and Polish defense contractors.

Rheinmetall's military vehicle simulation programs aim to prepare prospective warfighters for operating any kind of wheeled and tracked military vehicle. Training exercises are designed to simulate various weather conditions, traffic density, and other factors which can affect real-time operations.

The company's latest contract announcement coincides with their participation in the Interservice/Industry Training, Simulation and Education Conference, or I/ITSEC.

The conference, which concludes on Nov. 30 in Orlando, Fla., consists of peer-reviewed paper presentations, professional workshops, commercial exhibits, and other special events for international security contractors.
