Raytheon launches NSA-approved ethernet encryption system

The U.S. National Security Agency has certified Raytheon's KG-350 Ethernet encryption system, the company announced Wednesday.

The Type 1 certification of the system to protect sensitive information on network communications authorizes Raytheon to sell the KG-350 to commercial, military and government customers immediately, Raytheon said in a statement.

The KG-350 expands Raytheon's presence in the Layer 2 Ethernet encryption market, a system the company says offers lower latency and higher throughput than current encryption technology.

It provides fast, high-capacity, secure communications while preserving bandwidth and enabling uninterrupted real-time data, voice and video.

The KG-350 encryptor is ruggedized for tactical vehicle use and fixed-site applications.

A single unit can operate at three speeds and ensure communications across far larger networks than previous technology in point-to-point, mesh and point-to-multi-point environments.
