Raytheon and PASSUR to provide improved airspace and airport efficiency

Raytheon and PASSUR Aerospace are collaborating on solutions to improve the predictability of air travel, increase efficiencies for airlines, and create a safer, more hassle-free travel experience for passengers. The cooperative agreement includes the integration of PASSUR's business analysis and predictive analytics decision support software with Raytheon's air traffic management systems.

In anticipation of the FAA's NextGen Terminal Flight Data Manager program, the Raytheon and PASSUR collaboration will:

+ Provide integrated solutions to assist airlines, airports, and the air traffic management community.

+ Enhance operational efficiency and save money.

+ Increase safety and security.

+ Reduce environmental impact.

The integration of Raytheon and PASSUR capabilities will result in a robust automation platform. The platform will allow enhanced flight data to be processed and distributed among tower control positions, as well as air traffic positions managing from cruise to approach to surface traffic management, and commercial and recreational aircraft operators.

"We are using analytics to create useful information and get it to the air traffic managers and operators who make crucial decisions regarding air traffic flow at all stages of flight," said Jim McCoy, vice president, Raytheon Air Traffic Systems.

"Rapid access to better information enhances safety, efficiency and the curb-to-curb travel experience."

The collaboration brings added data and analytics into the system while streamlining airport air traffic systems. The efficiencies created will provide reliable and more predictive information to airport operators, airlines and, ultimately, passengers.

"Passengers and operators are rightfully demanding a more predictable air travel experience," said Jim Barry, PASSUR president and chief executive officer. "Through the Raytheon/PASSUR collaboration, we achieve this objective and bring enhanced reliability to everyone involved."

Raytheon and PASSUR will demonstrate their collaborative efforts at the Communicating for Safety conference in March 2014.

Raytheon has more than 60 years experience in providing global air traffic management technology, products and services to civil and military customers around the world. Raytheon's ATM solutions operate in more than 60 countries, and monitor more than 60 percent of the world's airspace.
