The U.S. Navy has contracted General Dynamics NASSCO to provide sustainment support for Littoral Combat Ships home-ported in or visiting San Diego, Calif.

The value of the award is $24 million. If all options of the contract (its length was not detailed) were exercised, the overall value would be as much as $96 million.

"General Dynamics NASSCO has proven repair experience with a track record of delivering high-quality maintenance and modernization services to the U.S. Navy," said David Carver, vice president and general manager of repair at General Dynamics NASSCO. "We look forward to working with the Navy to support the sustainment of the Littoral Combat Ship program."

General Dynamics NASSCO is prime contractor for the work and will partner with General Dynamics Mission Systems and General Dynamics Information Technology to plan, furnish materials and provide support and facilities to maintain and modernize 12 Littoral Combat Ships.
