NASA has appointed a medical team to review all health services, including behavioral healthcare, available to astronauts. The committee will review NASA healthcare systems and medical policies, standards and certifications for all workers, including astronauts, involved in the National Aeronautics and Space Administration's human spaceflight program.

U.S. Air Force Col. Dr. Richard Bachmann, an expert in aerospace medicine, will lead the group.

The other members of the committee and their specialties are: Air Force Col. Dr. Timothy Sowin, neuropsychiatry; James Fraser, aerospace medicine; retired Navy Capt. Dr. Sandra Yerkes, Dr. Mark Bauer, and Elizabeth Holmes, all experts in clinical psychology; Dr. James Bagian, a former NASA astronaut physician and an expert in aerospace medicine; and Navy Capt. Paul DeLaney, medical legal matters and medical privacy legislation.

Dr. Ellen Baker, a NASA astronaut physician, will serve as a consultant to the team.

The panel is to report its findings in June.
