Milrem expanding capabilities of unmanned ground vehicles
by Richard Tomkins
Washington (UPI) Sep 12, 2017

Estonia's Milrem Robotics is developing new robotic systems for military use by expanding the capabilities of their THeMIS unmanned ground vehicle.

One of the systems will enhance a military force's situational awareness. Titan Sentry, co-developed with QinetiQ, features sensor systems that link sensor data and advanced battlespace management systems to identify enemy locations.

The company said it is also developing an unmanned system, called Threod Systems, that combines the THeMIS vehicle with aerial drones. Estonian unmanned aerial vehicle manufacturer Eli is developing a drone nest for the tethered multi-rotor project.

"Remotely controlled robotic systems that keep our soldiers in a safe distance are crucial to the next generation of battlefield effects that will give asymmetric advantage to the warfighter," Kuldar Väärsi, Milrem Robotics' chief executive officer, said in a news release.

Milrem is exhibiting its Titan-Sentry at the defense and security exhibition DSEI 2017 in London, England this week.
