Malaysian Satellite Operator ScopeTel Standardizes Services On iDirect Platform

iDirect has announced a new contract with ScopeTel. The contract includes the purchase of an iDirect Series 15000 Universal Hub, Web Optimizer and multiple iNFINITI 3000 and iNFINITI 5000 Series Satellite Routers. ScopeTel will consolidate its current customer networks onto iDirect's satellite communications platform in an effort to increase bandwidth efficiency and simplify network management.

The operator will replace its Single Channel Per Carrier (SCPC) systems with a shared Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA) platform and integrate customer networks that span multiple topologies and vertical markets, including the maritime, oil and gas, enterprise, government and education sectors.

In addition, ScopeTel plans to leverage the iDirect platform to support virtual network operators (VNOs) across Southeast Asia that are seeking to establish private satellite networks in the region.

UAE To Launch Joint Remote-Sensing Satellite With GCC Countries

A senior official of the Defense Ministry of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) said that the ministry plans to launch a joint remote-sensing satellite with other member countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), local newspaper Gulf News reported on Tuesday. The plan was revealed by Brigadier Khalifa Mohammad Al Rumaithi, Chief of Military Works of the UAE Armed Forces, at the Defense Geospatial Intelligence Middle East opened on Monday in Dubai.
