by Allen Cone
Washington (UPI) Jan 30, 2018

The U.S. Air Force has awarded L-3 Link Simulation & Training an $8.2 million contract for retrofits on the Predator Mission Aircrew Training System simulators.

The new award, announced Monday by the Department of Defense, is a modification to a previous contract, which is now valued at $120,753,92.

The modified contract is for 40 retrofit communications kits and simulator seats for the simulators that reproduce MQ-1 Predator and Predator B/MQ-9 Reaper pilot and sensor operator aircrew stations.

Work will be performed at the company's plant in Arlington, Texas, and is expected to be finished by June 30, 2020.

On Jan. 23, the company broke ground on an expansion for its Link Training & Simulation multi-purpose pilot training center facility near Dallas Fort Worth International Airport.

The additional 40,000 square feet will more than double the high bay site, which serves domestic and international customers. It is expected to be finished this summer.

Fiscal 2017 procurement funds have been obligated at the time of award for the new contract. The contracting activity was the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center at Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio.
