Harris gets $131 million in orders from unidentifed customers

Harris Corporation reports it recently received contracts to provide high frequency, multi-band tactical radios to unidentified international customers.

The two awards for the company's Falcon III radio systems are worth a combined total of $131 million.

Under the first award, Harris is providing a country in Asia with Falcon III RF-7800 high-frequency wideband manpack radios and RF-7850 multi-band handheld radios for secure line-of-sight and beyond-line-of-sight voice and data communications.

The Falcon III RF-7800H enables users to send images and battle management data over high-frequency beyond-line-of-sight environments faster than they could through satellite communications.

The RF-7800H is 20 percent smaller and up to 10 times faster than legacy high-frequency radios, Harris said. The RF-7850M multi-band handheld units give forward-deployed troops the ability to communicate in with great speed and detail.

"Harris continues to lead the global deployment of wideband tactical communications to armed forces around the world," said Brendan O'Connell, president, International business, Harris RF Communications. "This most recent order will support deployment of an integrated tactical area communications system for improved command, control and situational awareness."

The order from the Asian country is worth $49 million.

Under the second, separate contract with Harris, the armed forces of an unidentified country will receive Falcon III RF-7800H wideband high-frequency radios and RF-7800V very-high-frequency radios in handheld, man-portable, vehicular and tactical base station configurations.

The contract is worth $82 million.

The number of systems to be supplied and their delivery schedules were not disclosed.
