European Telecom Satellite Launched

European telecommunications satellite Sirius 4 was successfully put into orbit Sunday after being put into space by a Russian rocket, the Russian Space Agency said, Ria Novosti agency reported.

The rocket took off from Kazakhstan on Saturday night, and the satellite "detached as intended" from the launcher and was put into orbit at 0753 GMT on Sunday, according to the space agency.

Sirius 4, made by Lockheed Martin of the US, is operated by European telecoms firm SES Sirius and will be used for communications in Europe and North Africa. It is scheduled to stay in service for at least 15 years.

Andrew And Resilience Capital Reach Agreement On Sale Of Satellite Communications Business

Andrew Corporation has reached agreement for the sale of its Satellite Communications business to Resilience Capital Partners, a Cleveland, Ohio-based private equity firm. Under the agreement, Andrew will receive up to $39 million in total potential cash consideration, in addition to an ownership stake in the new satellite communications company that Resilience will establish with the acquired Andrew assets.
