SolarEdge Technologies is expanding its activity in Greece, announcing a partnership with Enolia Solar Systems SA, a leading Greek company active in the development of PV projects, trading of PV solar equipment and design and implementation of rooftop applications in the rapidly developing PV markets of Greece, Cyprus and Bulgaria.

The SolarEdge power harvesting solution includes PowerBoxes, which are module-integrated power optimizers, solar inverters and a module-level PV monitoring portal. This unique solution enables production of up to 25% more energy from any PV installation, while reducing costs and complexities.

With local feed-in-tariff incentives for installation of rooftop systems and solar farms, the Greek PV market is fast growing. The distributed architecture of the SolarEdge solution allows Installers and system owners of all system types to benefit from constraint-free design and optimal site-area utilization, as well as real-time module-level monitoring for improved maintenance at reduced cost.

The SolarEdge solution is complete with built-in enhanced safety mechanisms, high reliability and extraordinary warranty, which all contribute to faster return on investment.

Enolia Solar Systems, which has executed large projects in Central Greece, has a current 2010 pipeline of 7.2MWp installations under development and construction in Crete, Lesvos, Rhodes, Voiotia, Larisa and Agrinio, extending to an additional 13 MWp for 2011. The company expects to sell over 1.5MWp of SolarEdge systems within the coming months.

"The SolarEdge unique solution is particularly beneficial for the Greek market," said Charilaos Mitrelias, General Director of Enolia Solar Systems. "Home owners can enjoy module-level optimization of their PV systems for maximum power production at all times, in addition to the highly efficient PV inverter and improved maintenance through the monitoring portal - all from one vendor."

"The Greek PV market offers great opportunities for both the short and long term," said Zvi Lando, VP Global Sales of SolarEdge. "Enolia, with its technical know-how and well-established and wide network of partners and distributors, is an ideal partner to develop operations in the Greek market."

Selenium Makes More Efficient Solar Cells
College Park MD (SPX) Aug 06, 2010
Call it the anti-sunscreen. That's more or less the description of what many solar energy researchers would like to find - light-catching substances that could be added to photovoltaic materials in order to convert more of the sun's energy into carbon-free electricity. Research reported in the journal Applied Physics Letters, published by the American Institute of Physics (AIP), describes ... read more
