The two defense segments of the Cubic Corporation have been combined for improved efficiency, collaboration and cost-savings.

Merged into a new unit called Cubic Global Defense were Cubic Defense Systems and Mission Support Services.

Cubic said the move is part of a company wide project called One Cubic, a series of initiatives expected to result in $15-16 million in annualized pre-tax savings in fiscal year 2016.

"This organizational realignment strengthens our competitive position, enhances collaboration and eliminates redundant costs," said William J. Toti, former president of Cubic's Mission Support Services segment and now president of CGD. "By combining the expertise previously available in two separate operating companies, we can now deliver higher quality to our customers in a more efficient manner, and we can pursue larger opportunities by leveraging significant past performance and technology credentials resident in the company."

Cubic said its defense business garners about $800 million in annual revenues and serves a diverse U.S. and international customer base in areas such as live, virtual, constructive and gaming training domains, leader and doctrine development, national security programs, special operations and secure communications.
