China's XZY 1 verification rocket has successfully completed a static firing test at Haiyang Oriental Aerospace Port in Shandong province, marking a major milestone for the nation's aerospace innovation.

Developed by Beijing Jianyuan Technology Co Ltd, also known as Space Epoch, the XZY 1 is a medium-lift launch vehicle with a stainless steel body powered by liquid oxygen-methane engines. The rocket is designed to be recoverable after ocean splashdowns, adding reusability to its capabilities.

During the test, the rocket's 70-tonne-class liquid oxygen-methane engine was ignited and operated at full power for 20 seconds. The static firing verified the reliability of the engine and the overall rocket system.

The test also demonstrated the functionality of Space Epoch's self-developed test stand, a key component featuring an elevated steel structure with a water-cooled flow guide. According to company representatives, the successful operation of the stand underscores the robustness of their technology.
