Chemring integrates new system with Resolve

PREFIX enables the dismounted operator to rapidly interpret the electronic picture, prioritise signals of interest and automatically geolocate and track signals of interest on a map.

A wideband electronic warfare system that automatically classifies signals and provides immediate direction findings was launched on Monday.

Chemring Technology Solutions of Britain calls the product PREFIX. It is designed for use with its RESOLVE manpack system for troops.

"PREFIX is another example of how we are focused on delivering ever more flexible EW capabilities," said Gavin O'Connell, Business Sector manager at Chemring Technology Solutions. "It offers the next step in being able to counter the next generation of threats -- as opposed to simply addressing current in-theater environments.

"Now integrated into the RESOLVE manpack system, PREFIX delivers complete mission flexibility for both mounted and dismounted operations."

Chemring said PREFIX, launched at a defense exhibition in France, provides accurate direction finding in real time across the active 40MHz spectrum. When networked, it will provide geo-location solutions across the communications band. It also allows the RESOLVE manpack sensor to be fitted easily to a vehicle.
