The last solid rocket booster for the last shuttle flight was assembled in Florida Friday, officials said.

Two of the 140-foot-tall boosters, each weighing 1.3 million pounds, will help power the shuttle Atlantis on its launch on the final shuttle mission, tentatively scheduled for June 28, Florida Today reported.

On April 25 an external fuel tank will be joined to the boosters and the shuttle itself will be attached after a planned May 12 move from its hangar to the Vehicle Assembly Building at the Kennedy Space Center, the newspaper said.

Roll out of the fully assembled shuttle to its launch pad is set for May 20.
