Rockwell Collins has delivered 1,400 Remote Secure Receivers to the U.S. Air Force's Special Operations and Air Combat commands as part of a follow-on order, the company announced Monday.

That makes 1,800 total RSRs the company has delivered to the Air Force.

The RSR features the world's smallest, lowest power, secure and trusted military Selective Availability Anti-Spoofing Module GPS system, the company said.

The increased use of enemy jamming and spoofing, as well as troops' use of smartphones, tablets and military off-the-shelf devices, necessitates the need for greater system security, Rockwell said.

The RSR's plug-and-play capability can be tailored to meet the needs of individual troop configurations, the company said.

"This technology takes the mental and physical burden off soldiers by providing them with worry-free confidence that they can execute all of their operations without being spoofed or jammed," Mike Jones, vice president and general manager for Rockwell Collins' communication and navigation products, said in a statement.

Telephonics receives Saab Giraffe AMB contract
Farmingdale, N.Y. (UPI) Jun 7, 2016 - Telephonics Corporation announced Tuesday it has been awarded a Saab contract for systems to be integrated into the Giraffe AMB radar platform.

The work, for an undisclosed amount, is for an initial order of Small Form Factor Identification Friend or Foe interrogator systems model SFF-44A.

The system provides a clear surveillance picture, supporting the user in making quick tactical decisions while protecting against air threats, Telephonics said.

The SFF-44A is a reduced size and weight that operates at a reduced transmitter power.

Its all-mode interrogator retains the key capabilities of Telephonics' AN/UPX-44A, the system currently employed globally on land, air and sea platforms.

Work will be done in New York with deliveries scheduled to begin in early 2017, the company said.

Saab's Giraffe AMB, or Agile Multi-Beam, radar provides short- and medium-range surveillance and ground-based air defense.

The system monitors 360 degrees for air targets while simultaneously locating and warning against incoming rocket, artillery and mortar rounds.
