NASA: Solar flare was first of most intense class observed this year
Greenbelt, Md. (UPI) May 13, 2013
NASA says a solar flare emitted by the sun late Sunday was an "X-class" event - the most intense flares - and the first such "X" flare of the year. Peaking at 10 p.m. EDT, the flare was accompanied by another solar phenomenon known as coronal mass ejection that can send solar material out into space.
