Trimble (Nasdaq: TRMB) has launched a new capability for its Siteworks Machine Guidance Module that integrates tilt bucket attachments into its field software suite. This enhancement enables construction crews to execute advanced grading, ditch shaping, backfilling, and complex slope tasks with greater speed and accuracy. The integration delivers superior control of the bucket's cutting edge through all motion ranges, enhancing performance in constrained environments and reducing errors that could drive up costs.

With this update, the Trimble Siteworks Software now supports a more fluid workflow that bridges the gap between layout and machine operation. Operators can move from surveying to in-field machine guidance without needing to switch systems, even when working with tilt buckets and tilt couplers.

All-in-One Field System for Layout and Excavation

Trimble's approach streamlines operations by enabling the same system to handle both surveying tasks and machine guidance. Using a modular machine kit and the Siteworks software, crews can transition the system across different excavators and jobsites with minimal setup. This consolidation reduces equipment needs while maximizing usability.

"Siteworks Machine Guidance is an all-in-one solution for both layout and excavation. By adding the benefits of 3D guidance to the tip of a tilt bucket, operators understand where the bucket is in relation to the 3D model at all times," said Elwyn McLachlan, vice president of civil solutions at Trimble. "The operator can create constructible designs in the field by measuring points with Siteworks as a GNSS rover, place it on the machine and dig to the design using full 3D machine guidance, and then take the technology off the machine again to capture the as-built. The entire workflow is simple and efficient for one person to complete."

The full system configuration includes the Trimble R780 GNSS Smart Antenna with tilt compensation technology and Trimble's ProPoint positioning engine. Operators can run Siteworks either on a Trimble field tablet or a compatible personal device.

Trimble WorksManager Software further expands project connectivity, enabling real-time design sharing, remote technical support, and continuous jobsite progress. When paired with Trimble CenterPoint RTX correction services, users benefit from global high-accuracy positioning through satellite or IP-based networks, without relying on local base stations or VRS infrastructures.
