GTX has announced the successful launch of its first application for the competitive athletics marketplace during the 112th running of the Boston Marathon. Deemed one of the world's most prestigious and oldest annual road racing events, the 2008 Boston Marathon attracted over 25,000 runners from around the world.

MyAthlete, licensee of the gpVector GPS Personal Location Service (PLS), brought GTX Corp's patent-pending, real-time GPS technology in a lightweight, easy to wear device worn by numerous runners. Real-time images of athletes equipped with the device were available at every juncture of the course by logging on to the Internet portal www.MyAthlete.biz from any laptop, PC or Web-enabled PDA.

According to MyAthlete, on average, each runner's device was followed by more than 10 unique viewers, generating traffic 1,300 times over their average server load. Once inside the portal, MyAthlete observed that visitors were likely to navigate their way around the main site and selected to view industry-related links hosted on the site.

Patrick Bertagna, CEO and President of GTX Corp, said, "Our patent-pending gpVector technology demonstrated peak performance at this world-class event. We were thrilled with the interest in the device both during and after the marathon, and the tremendous media exposure this launch provided us. The traffic and click-throughs at the MyAthlete.biz portal also validated the platform as a compelling advertising medium from which to build additional revenue streams, along with hardware sales of the device."

John Brennan, the president of MyAthlete, said, "This roll-out marks the beginning of a new era in interactive sports. The true excitement for me was seeing the joy and involvement MyAthlete brought to the families and friends tracking the real-time progress and performance of their athletes all 26.2 miles. This is exactly why we created this...to allow everyone to directly share in their athletes' journey every step of the way."

GTX Corp Advisory Board member Frank O'Connell, a partner at The Parthenon Group, was witness to the inaugural event and observed, "The enthusiastic response from the participating runners was great fun to see. As with any new and innovative technology there were lots of questions beforehand and the great results delivered by the MyAthlete and GTX teams made for a fantastic launch."

A family member shared his thoughts on the MyAthlete device, "As a spectator during the Boston Marathon, I was able to track my son, Kevin, using my Samsung Blackjack Smartphone browsing to the MyAthlete.biz mobile website. I found that the live updates were timely and accurate. We were then able to follow Kevin's progress throughout the marathon and know when we would see him next along the course."

An elementary school teacher, Dave Bradshaw, wore the MyAthlete device while racing to his top 100 finish in a time of 2:35:29, all the while streaming his location back to students in his classroom. He said, "The kids were updated regularly throughout the day by our principal. So many of them asked questions about the race and they all were really happy and interested. My thanks again for the opportunity to share my race with those around me."
