Digital Angel has announced that its SARBE division has signed a contract valued at approximately $2.4 million with Armasuisse, Switzerland's defense procurement agency, to supply SARBE Personal Locator Beacons to the Swiss Air Force.

Under the contract the Company will supply high-performance SARBE 6-406G Personal Locator Beacons, along with associated spares, support equipment and training.

The latest generation 406MHz and GPS PLB will become part of the standard survival equipment carried by Swiss aircrews operating fixed and rotary wing aircraft during training and operations.

This purchase by the Swiss government follows a two-year selection process during which SARBE provided support to Armasuisse in developing and refining its product requirements.

Part of the product selection process included exposing the PLBs under consideration to the challenging climatic and topographical environments found in Switzerland.

Joseph J. Grillo, Chief Executive Officer of Digital Angel, said, "Armasuisse has been extremely thorough in the selection of a new PLB for their military aircrews. The performance of the SARBE 6-406G has been extensively tested and was shown to be superior to the competition."
